Portbase’s ECS services for the container sector provide a single port-wide solution for the Customs obligations arising from the Export Control System (ECS) that have been in force in Rotterdam and Amsterdam since 31 January 2010 – for free and with added advantages. Exporters and forwarders from all over Europe can participate.
Quick, watertight validation of export declarations
By submitting five basic items of information about your export shipment - the so-called ECS notification – using our ECS services for the container sector, your export declarations in the ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam will always be quickly and thoroughly validated. Open dossiers are a thing of the past.
Easily comply with new Customs obligations
With your input, the sea terminal and shipping company/shipbroker can quickly and efficiently supply Customs with the arrival at exit and exit manifest required in the Netherlands. Customs will send the confirmation of exit directly to you straight afterwards.
No VAT problems
The confirmation of exit from Customs is extremely important: without it, you run the risk of time-consuming administrative hassle in order to be able to demonstrate to Customs that your shipment has left the EU, or of being retrospectively charged VAT. You can avoid this by using the ECS services for the container sector.
A clear view on your containers
An important advantage that the ECS services offer you is the ability to track your export containers online: from their arrival at the terminal to their departure on board a ship. You are fully in control of your logistics process, and the service you offer to your clients can be made even better. What is more, the track & trace information from our ECS services can also serve as alternative proof that your shipment has left the port in case Customs does not send you a confirmation of exit.
Free and easy!
The ECS services make exporting easier than ever. Just five basic items of information about your out-going cargo – the ECS notification – are required. Participation in Portbase’s ECS services for the container sector is also entirely free of charge for exporters and forwarders. The terminals and shipping companies will cover a large proportion of the costs, while the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Port of Amsterdam are also making significant contributions.
